The Musgrove Leukemic Group Somerset has just completed 40 years providing facilities to make the patient experience as pleasant as possible for those suffering from leukaemia and other blood disorders in Somerset.
The Group and its supporters have raised over £3.3M since formation and as it is run by volunteers over 95% has or is available to the aematology and Children’s Unit at Musgrove Park Hospital.
Mrs Maureen Hudson MBE was one of the founder members and is still a very active Trustee, she is seen here celebrating the 40 year achievement.
The remainder of this year is looking positive as well; a grant of £27,000 has been approved to provide a further 6 chairs, stands and chemotherapy pumps for the day unit in the Beacon Centre along with a further grant of £10,000 to help with the refurbishment of the en-suite shower rooms in Ward 9 for the benefit of the inpatients.
The continued sponsorship of the running expenses of the Mobile Chemotherapy Unit which later this year will start to call weekly at Wellington in addition to its present rota of Minehead, Bridgwater, Chard and West Mendip.
