Taunton’s Berry’s Coaches will be suffering a lockdown headache today (Thursday 5th Nov 20202) and it won’t be due to a Centenary celebration hangover. One of their double decker’s became wedged under the railway bridge!
During a tough year when they should have been celebrating their centenary, the local bus company have had to deal with 2 lockdowns and now a bus stuck under a bridge.
Tone News have contacted Berry’s for a statement and Scott Berry has told us:
There were no passengers on board at the time of the incident. We are cooperating with the relevant authorities and will conduct our own investigation.
Thankfully, no one was injured as a result of the incident however, overheard whilst at the scene this morning:
It’s not as simple as just being stuck, if the bridge is damaged, potentially the station may have to close for a structural survey. If that happens, the cost could run into hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Berry’s continue to operate their services in accordance to Government guidelines and despite this unfortunate incident, we would like to congratulate them for an outstanding service provided to Taunton over 100 years.
