Organisers of Pontispool Horses Trials, which were due to run on March 14 and 15, have cancelled the event due to the current waterlogged state of the ground.
Weeks of rain have made it impossible to get onto the course and time has run out to ensure the necessary preparations are made in order for the event to run.
Richard Mitford- Slade has told Tone News:
“We are gutted to have to cancel the event as a great deal of hard work has already gone into its preparation, but with no prolonged dry weather in the next couple of weeks, the ground conditions make further event preparations impossible.
“This is particularly disappointing for our new title sponsor Masons Kings who provide all of our gators, which are currently the only vehicles able to cross the ground!
“We would like to thank all our sponsors and volunteers for their continued support and understanding in making this difficult decision.”
Two more BE events are scheduled for Pontispool on May 23 to 25 and September 19 to 21.
The venue is also available to hire with its three acre arena the perfect place for cross country schooling, and its six furlong gallop proving extremely popular for those unable to enjoy a canter on their horses on grass due to the state of the ground.
