Lockdown drama doesn’t get much more heated than seeing a rescue operation from your own back garden and on Tuesday morning residents of George Street were on tenterhooks for a trapped kitten.

Whilst the owner had already scaled scaffolding to try and tempt down her pet from the very top of the roof, the young animal was determined not to slide down the roof and refused all attempts to try and coax it off the tricky position.
After some time, help came in the form of the local Royal Mail post lady, Alice Bowden, who helped use a creative combination plank of wood and a favourite blanket to try and tempt kitty down.
After 40 nervous minutes there was a collective sigh of relief and a round of applause as the cat decided that life on solid ground was the right decision and made its way down to safety via the plank of wood and a treat being offered.
Animal rescue meets true community spirit!
