Taunton Toad Trail has been one of the many highlights for the county town over recent months especially amongst the younger generation who have loved having their photos taken with them.

The idea of the trail came after the success of the Deane Dragons some 5 years ago which was the brain child of the then Mayor of Taunton Deane, Cllr Dave Durdan.
The Taunton Toad Trail was created to help celebrate the 60th anniversary of the League of Friends which promotes voluntary service at Musgrove Park Hospital and helps to raise funds for new equipment.
There was a total of 22 giant toad sculptures, all of which were designed by local school children, artists, businesses and charities. Each were positioned in different locations in and around Taunton and made for a fun day out for the family.
Just like their predecessors, the Taunton Toads were auctioned off (on Sunday 13th October 2019) at Hestercombe Gardens, where they had been on display for the public to view and the total amount raised was in excess of £15,000!
Chairman of the League of Friends, Peter Renshaw has told Tone News: “We are absolutely delighted with the amount of money which has been raised following the auction. These funds will be used in and around the hospital over the coming months to help sustain the fantastic service they provide.”
“I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of the businesses and members of the community who helped to make this project a reality, especially during the difficult climates we have experienced as of late”
