Taunton Vaccination Centre is moving to the old bus station on Tower Street
The Taunton Vaccination Centre at Firepool is set to give its final jabs at 7pm on Wednesday 16th March. The vaccination site will be relocating to the former Bus Station in Tower Street.
The new site, named the ‘Tower Vaccination Centre’, is undergoing a number of repairs to ready it for use and is due to open at the beginning of April.
During this period the vaccination team will be offering a roving service at planned pop up clinics in and around the Taunton area.
The Firepool site opened in October 2021, and since this date the vaccination team based from the location has administered more than 111,000 vaccinations.
Gary Risdale, the Programme Manager, Somerset Covid-19 Vaccination Programme has told Tone News:
The vaccination programme across Somerset has been extremely successful with almost 1.4 million vaccinations given to 92% of the population. Firepool (and previously the site at Taunton’s Racecourse) have been an integral part of this.
We are extremely thankful to the public for the willingness they have shown to come forward and have their vaccinations and to the staff who have worked tirelessly in helping to deliver this.
It is vital to ensure that our programme remains accessible to all in our communities, and we are pleased that another central location has been found for the Taunton area.
Our thanks go to Somerset West and Taunton Council for the invaluable support they have shown for the Taunton Vaccination Centre both at Firepool and now at Taunton Bus Station.
The Covid-19 vaccination remains the first line of defence against the coronavirus and there are many sites all over Somerset that offer walk-in and bookable appointments for all eligible options from age 12+.
