Many parents would like a calmer family life and feel more connected to their children. This is why Ruth James is excited about offering a new ‘Tuning in to Teens’ course in Taunton for parents of children aged 9-19 years.
As a mum of 3, Ruth quickly recognised the difference this course could make in families, so she trained to run it with the writer, Dr Sophie Havighurst from the University of Melbourne and went on to tell Tone News:
“I wish I had done this course when my children were 10 years old. I can feel the positive difference it is making to my parenting, even though my children are older.
It is never too late to learn how to reduce family conflict and feel more connected to your children.” Said Ruth James who also runs the Taunton Parenting Café”.
Each session is led by Ruth James who has an extensive knowledge of parenting and parenting challenges. It takes place over 4 evenings in March (3, 10, 24 & 30) at Company Spaces, Bridge Street, Taunton.
It is an evidence-based course and by the end of parents should:
- Have a better understanding of what “normal” adolescent behaviour is!
- Have a reduction in family conflict.
- See a reduction in their children’s anxiety and challenging behaviour and an improvement in their mental health.
- Feel more connected with their children and less reactive to their emotions.
